Relief From Airplane Noise

Share

Re “Residents Skeptical of Airport Noise Plan,” Oct. 6.

They’ve got to be kidding! Insulate homes against airplane noise? Yes, I believe insulation improved the noise conditions in the school. But comparing noise abatement in a school to quieting things down enough so people can watch television, have a quiet conversation or sleep is like comparing apples to oranges. No insulation can possibly be effective enough to really change the quality of life.

Will their acceptance of the insulation plan speak for everyone and leave the door wide open for the airport to do what they wish? What about those of us who aren’t being offered a plan but are nevertheless greatly affected? We live in Sherman Oaks and don’t suffer nearly as much as those in “the zone.” However, our lives are drastically impacted by airplane noise and we would have a real problem with increased noise.

Although I could blame no one for trying to get relief, please consider everyone subjected to airplane noise and see this “offer” for what it is: “shut up” money!
