2 Drivers Injured in Freeway Truck Crash

Share

A two-truck accident on the Ronald Reagan Freeway sent two men to the hospital Monday afternoon and backed up traffic for more than two miles.

Curtis Patrick Boyce of Agoura Hills was taken to Simi Valley Hospital with two broken arms, according to the California Highway Patrol. He later was transferred to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Woodland Hills. The other man, James Stephen of Los Angeles, was listed in guarded condition at Simi Valley Hospital with possible head and neck injuries.

The accident occurred about 3:40 p.m. when Stephen, who was driving a brown Chevrolet pickup truck eastbound on the freeway, came upon traffic congestion between Sycamore Drive and Sequoia Avenue and slammed on his brakes. He lost control of the truck, careened through the median and spun into westbound traffic.

CHP officers said a white Ford pickup driven by Boyce struck the brown truck, and both veered off the road’s north side. Boyce’s truck ended up halfway down a steep embankment, while the brown truck came to rest in a small park at the foot of the slope.

Boyce was out of his truck and sitting on the side of the road when officers arrived. Stephen had to be extricated from the truck before he could be taken to the hospital.
