Fuhrman Tapes

Share

I have a strenuous objection to an allegation made by Bill Boyarsky in his Oct. 3 column about prosecutors in the Simpson case. Consistent with our ethical obligation, our prosecutors repeatedly disclosed information to the defense and court, before and during the trial, that was both helpful and harmful to our case.

Prior to the discovery of the Laura Hart McKinny tapes, all known information about Det. Mark Fuhrman was fully litigated in court. When those tapes finally surfaced, no one was more surprised than our prosecutors and we immediately attempted to procure them. Apparently Boyarsky is not aware that we were the first to attempt via the legal process to bring the tapes before the court once the possibility of their existence became known to us.

Boyarsky’s claim that we were concealing the truth is not only unfair, it is not true. I know. I was there.
