Name Suggestions Sought for 2 New Schools

Share

With two new schools in the works for San Clemente and Aliso Viejo, officials of Capistrano Unified School District are asking for the community’s help in naming the new campuses.

One of them will be a sixth-through-eighth-grade middle school in San Clemente, next to Truman Benedict Elementary School. It is expected to be completed by September 1998.

The other new school will serve kindergarten through fifth grades in Aliso Viejo. The site and completion date for the school have yet to be determined.

Students, parents and community members interested in submitting suggesting names may send them to the district office by Dec. 2.

Schools may be named for historical figures, pioneers from the general Capistrano Unified area, living or recently deceased district personnel and community members who have made significant contributions to the district.

Schools may also be named for cities, communities or other geographical locations within district boundaries.

After receiving and reviewing the community’s recommendations, school board trustees will make the final selections.

Send nominations to Public Information Director Jackie Price at the school district office, 32972 Calle Perfecto, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675.

Information: (714) 489-7000.
