ABC Exec to Head Buena Vista Television: Walter C. Liss, president and general manager of ABC-owned station WABC-TV in New York, has been named chairman of Buena Vista Television. In that capacity, the 25-year ABC veteran will run parent company Disney’s distribution arm--which syndicates such shows as “Live With Regis & Kathie Lee” and “Siskel & Ebert”--as well as pay television. He replaces Randy Reiss, whose exit had long been anticipated. Reiss worked closely with former Disney TV Chairman Richard Frank, his cousin, at Disney and Paramount. He also oversaw KCAL-TV Channel 9, which Disney is selling. Reiss said he intends to take “an appropriate amount of time off” before pursuing any other opportunities. Liss, 53, will relocate from New York to Los Angeles.
