Deadline Saturday for Teen Artist Show

Share

Teenage artists living in the region have until Saturday to prepare their best work for submission to the Gallery 9 juried student art exhibit in Thousand Oaks.

Gallery 9, in the Janss Marketplace at 205 Moorpark Road, is a venture among 16 professional artists living in Ventura County and Agoura Hills.

The art show, scheduled to run Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, is open to teenagers living or attending school in the Conejo Valley, Moorpark, Oxnard, Camarillo, Ventura, Simi Valley, Malibu and Las Virgenes areas.

Work in all media, including photography, will be accepted. The gallery, however, is unable to accommodate installations or performance art.

All submissions, which are limited to one per entrant, must be an original work by the artist and not part of a classroom assignment.

All submissions must also be accompanied by a completed entry form and labeled on the back with the artist’s name, address, phone number, title--if any--of the work and its price if the piece is for sale. Submissions must be delivered between 10 a.m. and noon Saturday.

Works in the exhibition will be judged by Randy Osherow, an instructor of art and design, and a former chairman of the fine arts and graphics program at Learning Tree University.

Up to 50 entries will be exhibited in the Gallery 9 salon, with the “Best in Show” winner displayed in the front window.

An awards ceremony and reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9, with prizes including gift certificates, scholarships and private lessons with local artists.
