About 150 protesters gathered at a weapons plant that makes land mines, and 59 were arrested for blocking entrances. The protest near Hopkins, Minn., began with a candlelight vigil in a parking lot across from Alliant Techsystems. The protesters are demanding a worldwide ban on the production, stockpiling and international transfer of all anti-personnel mines. Alliant said that its mines are placed only in U.S. combat zones.
