Old Firetruck Has New Home in Philippines

After three decades of service, a 1966 Ford firetruck owned by the Fillmore Fire Department was officially donated to a Philippines-based foundation.
With a new firetruck on the way and the 1966 Ford no longer meeting state standards, Fillmore fire officials earlier this year began looking for a worthy group to receive the used pumper.
“It’s a fine old engine that still pumps hard and works well,” said Capt. Dave Patterson. “I spent a lot of hours on that truck. It’s too bad it just doesn’t meet the codes anymore.” Patterson said the vehicle would be shipped overseas within the next few weeks.
The foundation collects surplus firefighting gear for use by small cities and towns in the Philippines that can’t afford to purchase the equipment.
