In Brief

As promising as the industrial touches on Danzig’s last effort were, the strong industrial focus of this album ultimately proves hopelessly constrictive. All but a few songs are smothered in tight production and too often layers of gray noise obscure Glenn Danzig’s charismatic vocals--though he does emerge from the pall for the acutely mournful “Ashes,” and Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell injects some illuminating energy into a few tracks.
