Widely scattered, weather-related power outages left about 6,500 west Ventura County residents without electricity Tuesday night.

In the largest blackout, about 6,050 customers in south Oxnard and Port Hueneme near Victoria Avenue lost power about 8:15 p.m.

“A tree limb fell into some of our power lines in a substation,” said Millie Paul, a spokeswoman with Southern California Edison. About half of the customers had their power restored by 10 p.m. with the remainder expected to have their power back on by midnight.

About 250 Edison customers in La Conchita lost power about 4:35 p.m., Paul said. Electricity was restored for all customers by 9 p.m.

Nearly 200 customers in a rural area north of Santa Paula lost electrical service about 7 p.m. Tuesday. Power was restored by 9:45 p.m.

Meanwhile in Fillmore, three customers lost power because of a 7 p.m. transformer fire at Ventura and A streets.
