County Gets Grant to Set Up Job Centers

Ventura County has been awarded a $659,000 state grant to help set up job centers around the region designed to bring together employers and displaced workers, officials said Thursday.

A portion of the money will pay for operation of a new job center at 980 Enchanted Way in Simi Valley, said Ron Komers, county director of human resources. Similar offices are planned in Oxnard, Santa Paula and Thousand Oaks.

At the Simi Valley center, employers can use a computer directory to look up information on job applicants as well as on a number of business services, Komers said. At the same time, people seeking work can get information about job openings, training and child care.
