The California Strawberry Commission is accepting applications for its scholarship program for children of farm workers who are completing their senior year of high school and considering going on to college.

The California Strawberry Scholarship Program is open to children of field workers employed in growing districts, including Oxnard, Santa Maria, Orange County, San Diego, Watsonville, Salinas and Fresno.

The scholarships, which are awarded based on merit, range from $500 to $1,500. Scholarship recipients can use the funds for earning the degree or certificate of their choice at a four-year university, a community college or an accredited trade school.
