Duck update--They remain in last place in the Pacific Division but feel better about themselves after a victory over San Jose on Friday and a tie against Colorado on Sunday. Paul Kariya hasn’t scored a goal in three games since returning from an abdominal injury but has two assists and 25 shots on goal, including a team record-tying 10 against the Avalanche. Goalie Guy Hebert, who stopped 33 of 34 shots and played his strongest game of the season Sunday, will start tonight. Roman Oksiuta, who scored the game-tying goal against Colorado, has four goals and three assists in the last nine games.

Canadien update--Saku Koivu, a teammate of Duck forwards Jari Kurri and Teemu Selanne on Finland’s World Cup team, leads Montreal with seven goals and 11 assists. Koivu has recorded at least one point in six consecutive games (four goals and four assists). Goalie Jocelyn Thibault is on the injured reserve list because of a broken finger. Rookie Jose Theodore, 0-1-1 with a 3.75 goals-against average, has started the last two games. The Canadiens have scored 52 goals, tops in the Northeast Division. But they also have given up 54 goals, tied for the league high with the Ducks.
