Boy Scouts to Visit Homes in Food Drive

About 1,000 Boy Scouts and their families will be combing the west San Fernando Valley today to seek donations for their annual Scouting for Food drive.
The Scouts, from the organization’s Las Colinas District, will be walking door-to-door from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the area between the Ventura County line and Corbin Avenue.
Chris Rowe, Scouting for Food’s chairwoman, said the donations of nonperishable foods will be given to the West Valley Food Pantry in Woodland Hills; FISH, a charitable organization in Chatsworth; the food pantry at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Canoga Park, and MANNA, a charitable organization in Thousand Oaks.
Rowe said the West Valley Food Pantry recently lost some of its usual funding and workers there hope the food drive could help make up the difference. Last year the Scouts collected about 10 containers of food worth about $10,000, she said.
