Lompoc 55, Quartz Hill 28--The visiting Rebels (3-6) found themselves outmatched by Lompoc’s running attack and defensive press as they surrendered a nonleague loss at Lompoc.

Lompoc (5-4) struck early and often. Jovan Griffith ran in from 41 yards out to open scoring and take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Don Simmons scored for Quartz Hill to tie it in the second quarter at 7-7, but Lompoc’s high-powered ground patrol--which added up 312 yards of offense--took over. A 21-point second quarter for the hosts put them ahead of the Rebels, 28-13, and kept it that way for the rest of the game.

Quartz Hill was hindered by sloppy ball handling, committing four fumbles, two of which led to Lompoc scores. Justin Holtfreder completed six of 15 attempts for 136 yards, but also threw a pair of interceptions.
