Safety Is Critical to Child Education

Share

As citizens, we generally care about the various issues that face our communities: the need to have a strong economy with jobs and a decent minimum wage, the need to provide job opportunities for those who do not have jobs, the need to protect our environment, the need to provide education to children and, above all, the need to protect ourselves and our children from harm.

The foremost concern should be public safety. The problem of violence must be everyone’s top concern, especially the kind of violence that kills youths.

How can children be adequately educated when they have to worry about shootings and killings in their neighborhoods? Dead children cannot receive an education, only our tears. We ask that special law enforcement protection be provided for after-school tutoring programs. The need to educate our children in a safe environment--protected from the dangers of violence--is a crucial one.
