Dallas Coach Barry Switzer pleaded Tuesday for Cowboy fans to get to Monday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers at Texas Stadium early, get worked up and make as much noise as his team encounters in road games.

“It’s a big show, a big stage for the NFL and I want to use that as an advantage for us,” Switzer said. “I want the fans to get into it. I want the atmosphere to be like what we play against [on the road.]”

Asked if he had ever made such an appeal for crowd noise when he was at Oklahoma, Switzer laughed and replied, “We didn’t need it when I was at Norman.”

While the Packer game this will be the Cowboys’ 52nd consecutive home sellout, the Dallas fans aren’t noted for making the kind of noise that makes a quarterback’s snap counts go unheard.

“Other teams coming here have it easier than we have it [on the road],” Switzer said.

The Packers (8-2) haven’t had it easy against the Cowboys (6-4), losing the last six games between the teams--four at Texas Stadium.

“I don’t think they like coming here,” Switzer said. “I think it bothers them.”

The Cowboys will have two former Packers starting on defense--George Teague at free safety and Fred Strickland at middle linebacker. Teague takes over as a starter for Brock Marion, who suffered a cracked shoulder blade in the 20-17 overtime victory last Sunday at San Francisco.
