Brisk Weather Should Last for the Weekend

The crisp autumn weather, which brought fog and lower temperatures throughout Orange County on Thursday, is expected to last through the weekend, forecasters said.

“It will finally seem like autumn instead of summer,” said meteorologist Mark Mulholland of WeatherData Inc., which provides forecasts to The Times. “Actually, the weather you’re having and will have is pretty normal for this time of year.”

The brisk weather, which was accompanied by fog and partly cloudy skies Thursday, is drastically different than the near-record high temperatures earlier this week in Orange County.

A cold front from the Northwest is moving through Southern California and is responsible for the cooler weather, Mulholland said. Temperatures bottomed out in El Toro at 52 Thursday morning, and peaked at 67 Thursday afternoon in Santa Ana.

Over the next few days, residents can expect temperatures to peak in the low 70s, and dip into the low 50s in most of Orange County, Mulholland said. Coastal cities can expect fog through midmorning, while inland areas will see mostly cloudy skies, he added.--MARTIN MILLER
