A panel of mayors and council members from around the county on Tuesday named two new members to the Ventura County Transportation Commission.

Newly appointed were Fillmore Mayor Roger Campbell and Ventura Mayor Jack Tingstrom.

The vacancies were created by the decisions of Moorpark Mayor Paul Lawrason and Camarillo Mayor David M. Smith not to seek reelection to their respective city councils.

The panel also reappointed Bill Davis, the Simi Valley councilman who serves as the Ventura County representative to the Southern California Regional Rail Authority, which operates the MetroLink commuter trains.

Named as alternative members to the Transportation Commission were Santa Paula Mayor John Melton, Moorpark Councilman John Wozniak and Port Hueneme Mayor Robert Turner.

Every year, the Ventura County Transportation Commission allocates millions of dollars in state and federal transit funds to various transportation improvement projects across the region.
