The infamous, raucous and often outrageous Doo Dah Parade, the precursor to Pasadena’s slightly more formal parade on New Year’s Day, celebrates its 20th anniversary this Sunday. Deejay Dr. Demento, a leading promoter of novelty music whose syndicated show is heard on KSCA-FM (101.9), seems a fitting grand marshal. He will ride a record-shaped float--wired for sound--down Colorado Boulevard, and he will spin records as the float rolls along. “My lifetime ambition is to be part of the world’s most demented parade,” he says.

Returning parade participants include the Briefcase Marching Drill Team and the Lounge Lizards. The Del Rubio Triplets, Dread Zeppelin, the West Hollywood Cheerleaders and the BBQ and Hibachi Marching Grill Team are among the other performers scheduled to march. The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Raymond Avenue and Holly Street, south to Colorado Boulevard, Old Pasadena. Snotty Scotty and the Hankies, Dread Zeppelin and others in the parade will perform at various Old Pasadena clubs to keep the energy going after the parade. (818) 449-3689.
