LAPD Officer Appreciation Day

Share

On behalf of the officers of the Los Angeles Police Department, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the citizens and the many community service groups of the city of Los Angeles, the City Council and Mayor Riordan for declaring Friday, Nov. 15, 1996 “Officer Appreciation Day.”

Although the past few years have been very challenging, implementing community policing has helped to eliminate some of the obstacles that have slowed our stride. We have become stronger and more aware of the significant role the citizens of our city play in the jobs that we do.

Your generosity and your outpouring of support and appreciation, as demonstrated by the blue ribbons, the car lights being turned on and the many citizens who went out of their way to show us how much they care has really touched the hearts of all of the officers. We thank you for that.

We must continue our efforts and not let our energy waver as our partnership continues to grow. We are convinced that the police and the community as a team will continue to make strides toward fully crime resistant neighborhoods and business districts throughout the city. Enriching our quality of life and reducing the fear and perception of crime will remain our No. 1 priority.
