Police Seek 2 Men in Store Robbery

Santa Paula police are seeking two bandits who robbed the manager of a cellular-telephone store at knifepoint in broad daylight, then tied him up and stole his car.

Although frightened, the unidentified manager was unhurt, said Police Sgt. George Brink.

“This is not an everyday occurrence,” Brink said of the Tuesday afternoon robbery in the small Santa Clara Valley city. “It’s very uncommon.”

At about 1:15 p.m., the two men entered the Cell Site store at a shopping center on East Harvard Boulevard.

With one of the robbers wielding a hunting knife, the duo stole an unspecified amount of cash and cellular telephones, then bound the manager’s hands and feet with cable and stole his vehicle. The manager freed himself a short time later and notified police.

The vehicle was recovered Tuesday night about four miles away in the city’s north end, Brink said.
