Simpson Plaintiffs Plan to Call His Friends to Stand

Attorneys pressing a lawsuit against O.J. Simpson revealed Wednesday that they will call several of Simpson’s friends to the witness stand in an apparent effort to impeach the former football star’s testimony.

The plaintiffs Wednesday released a list of 32 remaining witnesses they plan to call before wrapping up their side of the case, being tried in the Santa Monica courthouse.

The list includes Simpson friends Al “A.C.” Cowlings and Robert Kardashian, who has publicly expressed doubts that Simpson is innocent of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Lyle Goldman.

During 2 1/2 days on the witness stand this week and last, Simpson testified that he never beat his wife and that he did not kill her or Goldman.

But plaintiffs’ attorneys are expected to question the new set of witnesses to show inconsistencies in Simpson’s testimony.

Among the witnesses is Simpson’s ex-girlfriend, Paula Barbieri, whose videotaped deposition will be played for the jury. Also on the list is Simpson acquaintance Ron Shipp and Simpson’s two housekeepers, Gigi Guarin and Michelle Abudrahm. Dale St. John, who owns a limousine service Simpson used the night of the slayings, is named as well.

In addition, the list includes members of the families of Goldman and Nicole Simpson.
