Police have booked five people in connection with a failed September car bombing in Reseda, charging one with attempted murder, a police spokesman said Monday.

Ronnie Powers, 27, arrested along with four others Friday at a residence in the 45400 block of Leatherwood Avenue in Lancaster, was booked on an attempted murder charge, said Los Angeles police spokesman Vince Aguirre.

Powers also was wanted on an unrelated warrant for forgery, Aguirre said.

The four others arrested at the Lancaster residence were booked for possession of explosives after investigators seized more than two pounds of military “C-4” explosive and blasting caps, Aguirre said. Police identified them as Marcela Powers, 24; Charla Stevens, 39; Peter Fullman, 37, and Samuel Vecchio, 43.

On Sept. 29, a C-4 device was placed on a woman’s car in a residential driveway on Welby Way in Reseda, Aguirre said. The fuse failed to ignite the device.

The investigation of that incident led to the arrests at the Lancaster home, where officers also seized two stolen vehicles, some stolen mail and several fake U.S. mailbox keys, Aguirre said. Also found was an elaborate computer system used to make false identification cards, altered California driver’s licenses and phony credit cards, he added.
