Garnett Suffers Ankle Injury
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett was taken to the hospital for X-rays after severely spraining his left ankle Tuesday night against the Sacramento Kings. “We won’t know anything until the morning,” Coach Flip Saunders said. . . . The Portland Trail Blazers activated 18-year-old rookie Jermaine O’Neal (bruised knee), who could become the youngest player in NBA history if he plays before Christmas. Laker rookie Kobe Bryant--who also entered the NBA directly from high school--currently holds the youngest-player record, debuting on Nov. 3 at 18 years, two months, 11 days. . . . Washington Bullet forward Juwan Howard agreed to enter an alcohol rehabilitation program after pleading not guilty to driving while intoxicated on Nov. 11 in exchange for having the charges dropped if he completes the court-monitored course by Feb. 24. . . . Philadelphia 76er forward Don MacLean, who has played only seven games this season, was placed on the injured list because of a left hip injury, the team said.
