Recycling Program for Phone Directories Offered

Residents in the central and northern areas of the county can set their phone books out for recycling or drop them off at several commercial and residential locations until Dec. 15.

The County of Orange Integrated Waste Management Department, Pacific Bell, various cities, trash haulers and grocery stores are sponsoring the program. The used books will be recycled into new directory pages and envelopes, said Sue Gordon, spokeswoman for Integrated Waste Management.

Residents and businesses in Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton, Garden Grove, La Habra, Orange, Placentia, Stanton, Villa Park, Yorba Linda and various unincorporated areas are encouraged to discard their old yellow and white pages at the following locations:

* Anaheim: Residential curbside recycling containers; CVT Materials Recovery Facility, 1131 N. Blue Gum St.

* Buena Park: Green curbside recycling containers; City Hall, 6650 Beach Blvd.; Lucky supermarket, 6931 La Palma Ave.; Ralphs supermarket, 5400 Beach Blvd.

* Cypress: Green curbside recycling containers; Ramada Inn, 5865 Katella Ave.; Cypress Chamber of Commerce, 9471 Walker St.; Casa Grande Apartments, 4360 Casa Grande Circle.

* Fullerton: Regular refuse containers.

* Garden Grove: Curbside recycling containers.

* La Habra: Curbside recycling containers.

* La Palma: Regular refuse containers; La Palma City Hall, 7822 Walker St.; Drug Emporium, 4881 La Palma Ave.; Centerpointe La Palma, northwest corner of Orangethorpe Ave. and Valley View St.

* Orange: Residential recycling containers for paper; Orange Resource Recovery Systems Inc., 2050 N. Glassell St.

* Orange Park Acres, El Modena, Olive, Modjeska and Silverado canyons: Residential recycling containers (Waste Management Inc. customers only).

* Placentia: Green curbside recycling containers for homes. Refuse collection containers for multifamily dwellings and businesses.

* Stanton: Refuse collection containers.

* Villa Park: Residential recycling containers.

* Yorba Linda: Green recycling containers.
