Duck update--They are 5-1-1 in their last seven games, including consecutive victories over Tampa Bay, Edmonton and Chicago. The Ducks have given up two goals or more only three times in those seven games. Winger Paul Kariya has at least one point in seven consecutive games. Goaltender Guy Hebert has a 1.27 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage in his last seven starts. He stopped a season-high 37 shots in a 3-1 victory over Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Center Steve Rucchin had his first multiple-point game of the season with one goal and two assists Wednesday.

Sabre update--Buffalo’s three-game winning streak ended with a 7-6 overtime loss to Vancouver on Wednesday. Michal Grosek had the first hat trick of his career. The Sabres rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period, but they lost when former Duck Mike Sillinger scored 1:22 into overtime for Vancouver. Center Pat LaFontaine is expected to be sidelined three months while recovering from an Oct. 17 concussion. Brad May has a shoulder injury and will not play. Mike Peca also has a shoulder injury but played Wednesday.
