Angels to Play Dodgers, Padres in June, July

The Angels’ first regular-season interleague game will be played June 12, when they play host to the San Diego Padres.

The Angels, who released their 1997 schedule Monday, will play the Dodgers on June 17-18 at Dodger Stadium and July 2-3 at Anaheim Stadium. The teams have played exhibition games since 1969. They also played exhibitions from 1962-64.

American and National league teams play each other in regular-season games for the first time this season. The Angels play four games against the Dodgers, Padres, San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies.

The Dodgers will release their schedule Dec. 21.

The Angels open the season against the Boston Red Sox at home April 2 and the World Series champion New York Yankees come to town for the first time April 7.
