Tallman to Lead College Trustees

Trustees of the three-campus Ventura County Community College District have named first-term board member John D. Tallman the new president of the governing board.
Tallman, a longtime administrator with the college district, replaces Pete E. Tafoya, whose term expired this week.
Although the position is largely ceremonial, Tallman will be responsible for running the monthly meetings of the district, which operates campuses in Ventura, Moorpark and Oxnard.
Tallman, who represents the Ventura area on the governing board, was elected to the five-member panel in 1994, a year after retiring as a district administrator.
Trustee Norman Nagel was named vice president of the college board.
