Gusty Santa Ana winds roared into Orange County on Saturday afternoon, causing scattered power outages, downing tree limbs and setting off dozens of burglar alarms.

The winds, which reached 60 mph in mountain canyons and 20 to 30 mph along the coast, are expected to continue this morning before dying in the afternoon.

At Central Park in Huntington Beach, two picnickers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a tree fell on them.

There were two power outages in Santa Ana. The first was at 11 a.m. and left about 1,800 Southern California Edison customers without electricity. The second occurred in the afternoon and affected about 1,400 customers. Power had been restored to both areas by Saturday night. A third outage was reported in Fullerton.

The county’s emergency communications station at Loma Ridge operated on backup generators Saturday evening after it lost power.
