Traffic Restrictions Could Be Made Law
Another look at restricting truck traffic along Bake Parkway and other major thoroughfares will be taken by the City Council tonight.
The council passed a set of weight limits on heavy trucks last month, and their vote tonight could make the restrictions a city law. Some are arguing for an even tougher ordinance.
A group of residents who live by Bake Parkway have said they will lobby the council about passing further limits on night travel along the roadway.
A recent study by Lake Forest showed Bake Parkway traffic increasing almost 50% as motorists used surface streets to bypass ongoing construction at the El Toro Y freeway interchange.
So far, Lake Forest has been unsuccessful in convincing neighboring cities to pass a regional set of traffic restrictions on trucks along arterial roads. City officials are continuing to work on a regional approach.
