Eve Golomb Memorial Service Scheduled

A memorial service for Eve Golomb, major fund-raiser and advisor for Jewish education groups throughout Los Angeles, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Beth Jacob Congregation, 9030 W. Olympic Blvd.

Golomb, who died Nov. 23 in Los Angeles, headed the board of the Los Angeles Assn. for Jewish Education and served as national vice president and chairwoman of the West Coast region of the National Assn. of Hebrew Day School parent-teacher groups of Torah Umesorah.

She was active in the Jewish Parent Teacher Council of Greater Los Angeles and was president of parent-teacher organizations at the California Hebrew Academy and the Los Angeles Jewish Academy. She also served on the boards of Hillel Hebrew Academy, Young Israel of Beverly Hills and Jacksonville Hebrew Academy.

Golomb was on the Los Angeles mayor’s advisory committee and headed numerous citywide conventions and fund-raising dinners.

She headed Hachnasat Orchim at Beth Jacob Congregation, finding temporary housing--often in her own home--for hundreds of people over the years.

Equally active when she lived elsewhere, Golomb had been president of Junior Hadassah in both Edmonton, Canada, and Youngstown, Ohio.

The widow of Dr. Morris Golomb, she is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Selber and Geraldine Wiener; sisters Evelyn Postone and Rita Segal; brother Herschie Haft; and five grandchildren.
