Serial Wrought-Iron Robber Sought

A thief lifting wrought-iron lawn furniture from a north Thousand Oaks neighborhood has sheriff’s detectives looking for a motive, as well as a suspect.

“Maybe somebody’s stealing them for Christmas presents,” said Det. Randy Watkins. “You just never know.”

Detectives are reasonably sure that the same person, or persons, has taken the furniture from the fronts of three houses in the neighborhood east of the Moorpark Freeway and north of Janss Road. The thefts have all occurred in the daytime during the past three weeks.

Watkins said the department is following up a couple of leads. In the meantime, the agency is recommending that residents with such furniture either secure it with a chain or put it away for a few weeks.

The department urges residents to report any suspicious activity to the police.
