MUSEUM MALAISE

Share

Christopher Knight has eloquently diagnosed the institutional malaise afflicting the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (“Just How Contemporary?,” Dec. 15). A city that does not put its full support behind local artists, many of whom are recognized internationally, cannot justly claim world-class status.

We have an amazing diversity of artists, as evidenced by exhibits at the California Afro-American Museum, the Korean American Museum, LACE and other venues. Yet none of this is reflected in the programming at our flagship museums.
