Tina Thompson scored 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as USC defeated Long Beach State, 91-61, on Saturday in front of 781 at the Sports Arena.

The 49ers (2-6) pulled to within nine, 67-58, with 5:49 left, but then Thompson scored the bulk of her 17 second-half points to help USC (5-2) pull away. Michelle Campbell had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Trojans, and Adrian Williams had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Long Beach State was led by Ember Brown with 13 points.

“I think we got fed up when they got close and started to play more aggressive and picked it up defensively,” Thompson said. “I was able to score some points, but I don’t think I played that well, especially from the free-throw line [she was five of 11].”
