Yeltsin Back at Work 7 Weeks After Bypass
President Boris N. Yeltsin returned to work in the Kremlin seven weeks after a heart bypass operation gave him a new lease on life, and the 65-year-old president said he was “ready for battle.” At what was in effect the start of a new term of office--six months late--Yeltsin said his priorities will include wage and pension arrears and military reform.
