Two men who died in separate traffic accidents were identified Tuesday by the Ventura County coroner’s office.

Marco Rico, 60, of Santa Paula was killed after his truck careened off the road and into Ellsworth Barranca, near Telegraph and Olive roads, about 5 p.m. Monday, CHP Officer Dave Cockrill said. He was pronounced dead at Ventura County Medical Center a short time later.

Rico may have been trying to avoid a black Nissan 240 SX with tinted windows that braked suddenly, Cockrill said.

The Nissan driver was described as a white woman with blond hair who was wearing black pants and a dark blue or green shirt or blouse. She had a small child with her and reportedly stopped and got out of her vehicle after the accident, then quickly got back in and drove away, Cockrill said.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call the California Highway Patrol at 654-4710.

In another accident, Mark Dees, a 63-year-old Moorpark attorney, was killed Monday afternoon after the car he was driving veered into oncoming traffic on California 126 near the Los Angeles County line, coroner’s officials said.

Dees is survived by two daughters, who live in Pasadena.
