Hawaiian School Band to Play at Fairgrounds

The Iolani High School Band from Honolulu, one of the top high school bands in the country, will perform today at the Orange County Fairgrounds in preparation for its Tournament of Roses Parade appearance.

The band consists of 176 members, including musicians, color guard and dancers. The group has won numerous awards over the years at music competitions and performed in the 1994 Gator Bowl in Florida and the 1993 Chingay Parade in Singapore.

Jan. 1 will mark the band’s first Rose Parade appearance.

Members of the public are invited to attend the performance from 1 to 3 p.m. in parking lot B, near the Fair Drive entrance.
