Laker update--Byron Scott, providing one of the few consistent sparks off the bench of late, is shooting 51.8% and averaging 7.5 points the last 11 games and shooting 63.6% the last six. He’s also at 58.3% (seven for 12) from three-point range in the six. After four consecutive road games, the Lakers are playing at home for the first time in two weeks, since beating the Trail Blazers on Dec. 13. Tonight also marks the first of two games in which they will wear throwback uniforms as part of the NBA’s 50th-anniversary celebration.

Celtic update--They have the fewest victories in the league, a five-game losing streak, 11 defeats in 12 games and a 0-10 road mark. But one of the five victories came against the Lakers, 110-94, Nov. 27 at the FleetCenter. A victory tonight will give the Celtics a sweep of the season series for the first time since 1991-92.
