JACKSONVILLE (9-7) at BUFFALO (10-6) Channel 7, 9:30 a.m.

* STORYLINE: This is quite a matchup, between a second-year team and one that has lost four Super Bowls in the ‘90s. The Bills are 67-14 at home in nine seasons under Coach Marv Levy. But it appears the Jaguars will catch a break. After snow during the week, forecasts call for sunshine and temperatures around 50 degrees.

* JACKSONVILLE UPDATE: If asked who led the NFL in passing yards this season, many would probably guess Brett Favre, Drew Bledsoe or John Elway. The answer is the Jaguars’ Mark Brunell, who completed 63.4% of his passes for 4,367 yards. Brunell’s favorite targets are Keenan McCardell and Jimmy Smith. McCardell had 85 receptions for 1,129 yards and Smith caught 83 passes for an AFC-best 1,244 yards and seven touchdowns. If Brunell is to have time to find them, he will need second-year left tackle Tony Boselli, who has given up one sack this season, to win his matchup against Bruce Smith, who led the AFC with 13 1/2 sacks. The Jaguars won their last five games. “There’s a lot of truth to the fact that we’re happy to be in the playoffs, but it doesn’t end for us right here,” Brunell said. “We’re in the playoffs, we’re here to win, and we’re going to do whatever we can to win this one.”

* BUFFALO UPDATE: No matter how poorly this team plays, there seems to be no getting rid of it. The Bills’ offense struggled in all but four games this season, and quarterback Jim Kelly had the worst season of his 11-year career. He had a career-low 14 touchdown passes and career-high 19 interceptions. Thurman Thomas became only the second player in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards eight consecutive seasons, but he is definitely slowing down. He rushed for 1,033 yards this year, averaging 3.7 yards per carry, and was limited to 150 yards in his last four games. Andre Reed had 66 catches for 1,036 yards and moved past James Lofton into fifth place on the all-time receptions list with 766. The Bills are a minus-10 in turnovers the past four games and did not have any takeaways during a three-game losing streak before beating Kansas City to clinch a playoff berth.
