Letter Writer Had a Vested Interest

Share

On Dec. 22, there appeared a letter concerning the TMC site just outside the city of Moorpark. It was in response to an earlier letter from Tim Kelly regarding his concerns about the approval recently granted.

The Dec. 22 letter trumpets the benefits of the project. It was signed by Glen M. Reiser of Oxnard. Now, it just happens that on my desk there is a copy of a letter signed by Glen M. Reiser of Oxnard. The letterhead says, “Law Offices of Glen M. Reiser.”

The first paragraph of that letter reads: “My office represents Southdown, Inc. . . . and one of its companies, Transit Mixed Concrete Company (“TMC”).

So much for the concerned citizen, Mr. Reiser; he is simply representing his client.

His letter to the editor talks about allowing only 77 truck trips above the 1989 level; the letter from the law office requests that 1,328 average daily one-way trips be permitted and an asphalt plant be added. It must be noted that most of those trucks travel through the center of Moorpark.

Mr. Reiser of Oxnard is apparently retained by the applicant, so of course, we will accept his arguments as gospel and discount Mr. Kelley’s concerns and the concerns of the city of Moorpark and its residents.
