Four-Star Films : ‘Laura’

One more superb film noir mystery from 1944 starring Dana Andrews (pictured) as a detective who, while investigating a murder, falls in love with the portrait of the dead woman (Gene Tierney), then discovers she wasn’t killed. Clifton Webb is a standout as a cynical columnist, also in love with Tierney. Vincent Price also stars. Directed by Otto Preminger who replaced Rouben Mamoulian (AMC, Sunday, 1 and 10 p.m.; Monday, 7 a.m.).
