Police officers arrested two burglary suspects Thursday after a high-speed chase that ended when the vehicle hit an Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus in the Westlake area of Los Angeles.

The suspects, identified as Felix Valdez, 35, and Enrique Pedrosa, 42, of Los Angeles fled after the crash that occurred just before noon at 3rd Street and Virgil Avenue. One person on the bus reportedly was taken to a hospital to be examined, and six others were treated at the scene and released.

The pursuit began a half hour earlier as officers, responding to calls of a residential burglary, arrived in time to see the suspects getting into a car in the 18500 block of Hatteras Street in Reseda, police said.

The driver exited at Highland Avenue, where the surface street chase began and led to the downtown Los Angeles area.

Police said a shotgun and six handguns were recovered from the vehicle, including a loaded pistol on the front seat.
