The accident, which police suspect was alcohol-related, occurred at 7:23 a.m. on the southbound Hollywood Freeway, just before the Magnolia Boulevard offramp, said CHP spokesman Ken Lane.
“The vehicle went off the freeway, down an embankment, through a fence and then across Magnolia Boulevard onto a sidewalk where it struck the pedestrian,” Lane said.
The injured pedestrian, identified as Joseph Armiger, 25, was treated at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills. The fatally injured driver was identified as Delfino Diaz, a resident of Los Angeles.
