Re “Baugh Says New Donor Limits Impede Defense,” Jan. 23:
Poor Huntington Beach Assemblyman Scott Baugh, crying in his beer over new laws which are preventing him from tapping the virtually unlimited monetary resources of the Republican Party. Hasn’t he ever heard the old Republican mantra that people should be responsible for their own actions?
Baugh should pay for his own defense for allegedly playing fast and loose with the election laws, just as Newt Gingrich should cough up the money to pay his recently assessed fine. Otherwise, advocating personal responsibility will be seen by the public as just another one of those Republican farces.
