Duck update--They have tied the defending Stanley Cup champions twice this season, scoring four third-period goals in a 6-6 tie Oct. 10 in Denver and pulling out a 1-1 tie Nov. 3 in Anaheim when Roman Oksiuta scored a sixth-attacker goal with 1.4 seconds left. Colorado Coach Marc Crawford was irate after the 1-1 tie, complaining that the scoreboard clock at the Pond was operated incorrectly. The Ducks are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games and have won four in a row at home.

Avalanche update--Colorado has the best record in the NHL but was beaten by one of the league’s lower-tier teams Saturday afternoon when San Jose defeated the Avalanche, 2-1. The loss marked the first time goalie Patrick Roy has lost to the Sharks, ending an 11-0-1 streak. Colorado has thrived despite a run of injuries. Peter Forsberg has returned from minor leg surgery, but leading scorer Joe Sakic is still at least a couple of weeks from returning from a deep calf cut.
