Hey, Thanks for the Effort Anyway

Regarding the letter from reader Victor Steinbok (Food, Jan. 23) about the (Jan. 9) article on truffles: I appreciate your substitution of kilogram measurements into pounds, even if “rough.”

When it comes to math and conversions, I openly admit to being a “village idiot,” though I also manage to be a very decent cook. As a reader and a cook, since I don’t deal daily with the metric system, I am grateful for the efforts on your part that save me the mental gymnastics.

I hope Steinbok never becomes the editor of The Times Food department.
