A 49-year-old woman believed to be a transient was struck and killed by a van when she walked into traffic Monday evening, police said.
The woman, whose name is being withheld until relatives can be notified, walked into the No. 2 lane of traffic on North Tustin Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. and was run down by a van, Santa Ana Police Lt. Bob Chavez said.
