Consumer Portfolio Services Inc.: The Irvine automobile finance company posted 1996 net income of $14.1 million, or 95 cents a share, up 47% from the $9.6 million, or 71 cents a share, for 1995. Revenue increased 67% to $51.2 million compared with $30.6 million. For the fourth quarter, net earnings increased 44% to $3.9 million, or 26 cents a share, from $2.7 million, or 19 cents a share, for the comparable 1995 period. Revenue rose 97% to $15 million from $7.6 million.
