Clarence E. Burgess; Equipment Operator

Clarence E. “Bud” Burgess, a self-employed heavy equipment operator and repairman, died Monday at his home in Ventura. He was 63.

Burgess was born June 5, 1933, in Santa Barbara, and had lived in Ventura for 29 years. He had been a general aviation pilot and a commercial pilot for Apollo Aviation of Santa Barbara. He also was a member of the California Civil Air Patrol.

Burgess was an Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War.

Burgess is survived by his wife, Eleanor; three daughters, Loretta Milne of Mariposa, Lacille J. Newman of Minneapolis and Barbara K. Burgess of Ventura; two sons, Lee F. Burgess of Ahwahnee and Harry E. Burgess of Seattle; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura, with Burgess’ cousin, Arnim Nicholson of San Martin, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the hospice program of Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Assn., 1996 Eastman Ave., Ventura, CA 93003.
